How to Join Milner

Interested in church Membership?  

In an age when people feel less inclined to “join” an organization we continue to stress the need to take our commitment to God seriously.   To be actively involved in the life of a Christian congregation is an important and necessary step in our life of faith. It expresses our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and acceptance of his Lordship in all of life. Baptism and public profession of faith in Jesus as Lord are the visible signs of entrance into the active membership of the church.    Those interested in learning more about church membership are invited and encouraged to speak with the pastor with any questions pertaining to joining Milner Memorial Presbyterian Church. We pray that it will be a life changing and enhancing process. New member classes are scheduled periodically.  These classes will allow you an opportunity to receive information, ask questions, and prayerfully consider this important step.  

You may join in several ways: 

By Profession of Faith
You acknowledge your sin and your need for Savior. You confess your belief in Jesus as God's son and welcome him into your life. You further promise to allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in living the Christian life. If you were not  baptized in infancy, adult baptism will accompany your public profession of faith.  

By Transfer of Letter
Letters of transfer are accepted from all Christian churches. Baptism from another denomination by sprinkling, pouring or immersion is recognized as valid.  

By Reaffirmation of Faith
When a letter of transfer cannot be obtained, or when membership in another church has lapsed, you can begin anew with the reaffirmation of faith. You reaffirm the commitment made at your baptism or public profession of faith. You do not need to be baptized again.
